Raphaela Paetsch

American-Japanese cellist Raphaela Paetsch (1996) was born in Lugano in Switzerland in a musical family. She started lessons on the cello at the age of 4 with her father and later continued with Professor Monika Leskovar in the “Pre-Professional” course at the “Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana”. From 2010-14 she recieved scholarships from the Fondazione Volkart Zürich and in 2014 she won the Special Prize giving by the SUISA Fondation for the best performance of a Swiss composer. She has participated in masterclasses with David Geringas, Frans Helmeron, Jens Peter Maintz, Thomas Grossenbacher, Wolgang E. Schmidt, Jerome Pernoo, Danjulo Ishizaka, Wen Sinn Yang, Marko Ylönen, Troels Svane, Giovanni Sollima, Johannes Goritzky and has receives regular chamber lessons with the Artemis Quartet and Prof. Ulrich Knörzer (Berliner Philharmoniker). Raphaela has been invited to performs as soloist and in a chamber groups in numerous concerts in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, Finland, Spain Japan and in the USA. Since 2015 she has been studying at the Universität der Künste Berlin with Professor Konstantin Heidrich and recieves a scholarship from the Fritz-Gerber Stiftung Zürich and the Ottilie-Selbach-Redslob-Stiftung.
